TheRustyBucketKids.com (RBK) provides a place on the internet for fans to learn more about the television show, the town of Peak City and the characters. By signing up to be members of RBK, fans (both children and parents) will have access to communicate with characters, read blogs and reply, and send us comments and suggestions. While we want our members to benefit from the interactive nature of online media, we also believe it is our responsibility to educate parents and their children about safeguarding their privacy when using the internet. RBK is committed to the provisions in the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and makes every effort to follow its regulations. Our data collection practices are described here to that end. We also encourage parents to teach their children to be careful when entering information including checking with them before kids enter their information onto any website or sharing that information with anyone who they do not know. What Information Is Collected? We at RBK collect only the minimum information to provide the benefits of this website for our members. We collect only information from children that is known as non-personally identifiable information (e.g. screen name, birthday, gender, state, zip code and country of residence). We collect this information so children can participate in various online activities (e.g. chat with celebrities, post messages, vote for story ideas, engage with Peak City activities) with the minimum of personal information. When we conduct online contests or sweepstakes or offer other online activities, RBK may request limited personally identifiable information (e.g. child's email address and/or email address of parent or third party) to deliver requested communications such as newsletters. We do not ask for more information than is reasonably necessary for fan participation in any of our online activities in general. As explained below, we also collect from parents additional types of information (e.g., credit card and billing information) when they purchase products and offerings at our site. Electronic Newsletter Subscription If RBK members under 13 want to sign up to receive a newsletter by email, the member is asked for his or her first name, email address and the email address of his or her parent. We then send the parent a notification email about the request to receive by email the RBK newsletter within three business days. The parent has the option to have the member’s information removed from our newsletter database. The member can request the cessation of the newsletter and have the member’s information removed from the database any time after the original email by using the "Unsubscribe" directions on that email or at the bottom of all newsletter emails. All information collected for RBK newsletters is used only to send the member the electronic newsletter. We may disclose, transfer or share with third parties who we employ to distribute and prepare these newsletters. These third parties are forbidden from using or sharing this information and are required to keep this information confidential. Contests and Sweepstakes When RBK runs online contests and sweepstakes, the member is required to provide his or her first name and email address. If our contests or sweepstakes involve more than a one-time contact, we may ask additionally for the email address of his or her parent. In these cases, we send the child's parent an email within three business days informing him or her of the child's entry and give the parent the option to have the child's entry deleted. We maintain and protect the confidentiality of all such information and use it only for the contest or sweepstakes purposes. After the contest or sweepstake is completed, we delete all related personal information. We may disclose, transfer or share with third parties who we employ to help with such contests and sweepstakes. These third parties are forbidden from using or sharing this information and are required to keep this information confidential. Electronic Postcards and Email Messages RBK may also provide the opportunity for members to send e-mail to us. We may ask for their first names, but we request no additional personally identifiable information except an e-mail address, which we use solely for the purpose of responding to messages and/or requests. Use and Disclosure of Information RBK uses or may use personally identifiable information that members provide for such purposes as sending emails from RBK and for contests or sweepstakes, as well as replying to questions about RBK. We do not currently disclose to any third parties personal information retrieved from our members, except for third-parties to use specifically to conduct online activities (e.g. conducting contests and sweepstakes). We provide these third parties access to personal information only for the purpose to perform their work and it may not use it for other purposes. We will not sell this information to third parties. Cookies and Log Data Cookies are information files that your web browser places on the hard drive of your computer when you visit a website. These do not damage user files, nor can they read information from a user's hard drive. Cookies allow websites to “remember” user activities on a website as well as user visits to a site. At RBK, cookies are used to determine the number of unique visitors to our website over a given period and to remember user screen-names so the need for multiple log-ins is eliminated. We do not store any personal information into cookies, nor do we link or combine information collected through cookies to any personal information that children submit online when participating in our activities. You can, of course, disable cookies on your computer by indicating this in the preferences or options menus in your browser. The advertisements appearing on RBK are delivered to you by a third party ad service provider. In the course of serving advertisements, the ad service provider may place or recognize their own unique cookie on your browser, and may use non-personally identifiable information about your visit to RBK, such as the number of times that you have viewed an ad. Log data collected on web servers both within RBK's control and under the control of third party ad service provider, who is required to maintain such data on a confidential basis, supplies RBK with aggregate information about the number of visits to different pages on our site. RBK uses such aggregate information to improve access to our content based on our visitors' browsers and operating system types to make our content available to as many children as possible. We do not link the log data collected to the personal information that children submit online when participating in our activities. Parental Access We believe that parents should protect the privacy and safety of their children, while the children can become members of the RBK and enjoy all advantages thereof. To accomplish this, we have provided a form for parents to request a review of their children’s information and request that that information be deleted from the database and request the child receive no more information from RBK. This form may be mailed to RBK at the address included. Security RBK has implemented procedures to be sure that personally identifiable information we collect is safe and kept confidential.
